Cynthia Pelayo and Daniel Kraus Win Bram Stoker Awards

HWA Chicago members Cynthia Pelayo and Daniel Kraus won awards at the Bram Stoker Awards® in Pittsburgh.

Kraus won Superior Achievement in a Middle Grade Novel for his book They Stole Our Hearts. It was his third nomination and first win.

Pelayo won Superior Achievement in a Poetry Collection for her book Crime Scene. It was her fifth nomination and first win. Pelayo, who is Puerto Rican, became the first Latinx writer to win a Bram Stoker Award®; she was joined later in the evening by Gabino Iglesias, who won Superior Achievement in a Novel for his book The Devil Takes You Home.
